Wagering Patterns / Day vs.Night tracks - Pace and Cap

Does anyone track how they do capping/wagering at night compared to day?

I ask because I just completed a 2 week tally ( wagering 13 of the 14 days BOTH day and night).

Day:
Aqueduct
Fair Grounds
Calder

Night:
Mountaineer
Delta
Sam Houston

To be honest the results are like 2 totally different people man. I almost fell off the chair.

For myself the night time is the right time.

I have been playing night tracks since day 1. I live in Houston and Sam Houston mostly runs at night. I have read some handicapping tips about playing night tracks, but I don't remember what they were. I didn't believe that the tips made any difference. The main difference is that the day tracks have much better horses than the night tracks. Louisianna has better horses than Texas. Louisianna has casino money. Texas does not.

I've always preferred the night tracks and generally done better at them. Maybe its my background as a musician and saloon keeper or maybe its just that I'm more comfortable with cheap horses since that's all I've ever been around.

The only meaningful tip I can remember is that you can generally discount shippers whose background is all at day tracks. It's quite an adjustment to get up and go racing at what is usually your bedtime.

Notice I said 'generally' and 'discount', not eliminate. Its not a major factor. Just a slight negative.

As an afterthought, small and night tracks are a great venue for the matchup and other techniques that rely heavily on raw times, You have to make your own track to track adjustments, but the speed and pace figures from the major vendors almost universally suck.

They've got the problems that mechanical figures have everywhere, and at the minor tracks there is much less human intervention by a talented handicapper to massage the final published figures.
