Class and APV

Ted,

I'd like to request that you consider the possibility of adding a Class/APV calculation to the RDSS array. Its only 2 figures and possibly a ranking, and the calculations are simple. It takes up little room and would fit nicely on the top bar where the projected pace sits.

As far as the calculations, Dick Schmidt had a couple of articles in the early Follow Ups that discussed the rating in some detail. I would be happy to look those up, but I would also suggest that the person who has probably done as much work with Class/APV as anyone is PIRCO charter member and our own Pace N' Capper Robert Cochran.

Dick

Dick,

Absolutely, those have been requested more than a few times, and I have been collecting sources for a definitive formula. I'm looking through my early FUs right now, I have the section in the Yellow Manual which Bill V identified. Just details, things like using Turf data when today is turf, when to use last 2 years, when to use current year only.

Of course, software knows what the purse value of each race was and the horses finish position (though not purse apportionment), so we can make a detailed calculation from up to the last 12 races (or more if more races have accumulated).

(That article was FU #5, Page 7)

Bob C, (or anyone else), if you can suggest any further specifics or nuances, I'd love the guidance.

Thanks Dick.

Ted

Ted,

I finally found the article I was searching for. There is a followup article to the one you mentioned by Dick Schmidt in FU #9, Page 52, titled "Some Thoughts On and additions to the Revised Class Factor".
