Ted this is some very slick software you've developed
Ted,
I just wanted to thank you for spending the time and effort needed to bring rdss to this level. I've never sat down with a piece of handicapping software and intuitively felt so in control. Now by no means am I claiming that I've won a plethora of races because I havent. But I have such a level of comfort and seem to be decipiering the inflections of this software so quickly that this is going to change swiftly. The layout has really assisted me in developing a more intuitive approach to selecting pacelines. My paceline selection has skyrocketed to the point that the winner in most of the races are in the my top 5. I love the way the location of the primary tab is left of the works tab. I also love the way the works since race are highlighted and the accompanying speed rating for the works is awesome. I use works as a means to monitor jockey/trainer intent which to me is 30% of the game. If the horse has 0 or 1 work since race, this certainly doesnt justify elimination it just tells you that their isnt any clear intent But when a trainer has an already fit horse, who is a contender, and he puts 4 or 5 works in prior to a race that shows clear intent and they have a live horse. I really dont pay the actual work any attention unless it has a SR of 95 or above. As I stated earlier I've just been dinkering around with different screens and looking at various factors to get an overall feel. But next week once SA starts running I well start keeping some models and expect to see fascinating results. I just really want to thank you for the ease of use and being so responsive. I will keep you posted on my progress. Thanks Carl

Carl,
Thank you again for your appreciative words! I'm glad the software feels ergonmomic and intuitive to you. Often, I tend to focus on the discrepancy between what I see in my mind for the software and what exists so far in the external reality of it. But I agree it's not too bad so far! I know I can and will do a lot more than what's there now, and the feedback from you and the other testers really helps. For the record - always - I must say that none of this exists without all the effort, creativity and hard work of all who have come before: firstly Doc Sartin, and Jim Bradshaw, those who evolved TPRs, Guy Wadsworth, and Richie P, along with others (you know who you are, without being named). I have tried to be faithful to their earlier work and add useful tools and nuances which I have wanted for myself - but I do not take all the credit. Also, everyone here who has learned something, from whatever software or diligent research, and takes the time to share it a bit and help others have the opportunity to learn - all have my perennial respect and gratitude. Carl, I hope you clean up at SA this season! (BTW, Carl refers to the Workout tab Speed Rating, which appears in the coming update (along with Workout and race intervals), either this weekend or sometime before New Years.) Cheers, Ted
