William L Scott

Hi everyone,
I am trying my best to learn the match up i love it ,would like it more if i was winning!!!!!!!!
My question is about his book investing at the racetrack(betting top 3 favs).
I need to find a way to generate a bankroll making slow steady wins while learning from richie and the hats wisdom.
I used this method in early 90s and it seemed to work so so does anyone have any experience with it?
Thanks in advance

Punch, I have read William Scott's book also. I think with the Internet and ADW's the game has changed. I have seen odds change rapidly at the last flash. I am not sure these concepts would work as they have done in the past.

Grinding it out is tough and you will be working on the slimmest of margins with little room for error. I can understand you wanting to generate a steady income though.

Hi Punch;

Scott developed a criteria for picking favorites that paid better then even money at a hit rate close to 50%. It identified vulnerable \ losing favorites and pointed out favorites that won more then there fair share of races.

If you are patient & selective enough to follow his criteria and work his process then you will have the slow but steady bankroll generating method you are seeking.

I would suspect that the hit rate on favorites in races where both Scott's criteria AND The Match Up method agree would exceed 60%.

I loved the book. I had no idea about the Methodology
back then. I used to do the ability times
Actually this book kind of led me to meet Richie
I met someone at the meadowland who was using
M.Pizzola's master handicapper program.
He saw that I hit a nice longshot in the last race on closing day with the ability times
at Gulfstream. He had his laptop computer and showed me the program
I thought it was cool. He could bring a laptop to the track I save my money and got abunch of books and programs By that time I had tried a few software programs
But I got real messed up . Any how it turns out the first guy
I saw knew Richie and Mark F
And we all kind of hung out together.
Thats when I started to listen and watch Richie
and he told me about The methodology

Any way I guess I owe a lot of thanks. I got a life time best friend

from a book by Wm Scott

Punch.

I use Scott's "Form Factors" every day on every race at Belmont along with Energy and find it's worth the time and effort.

And between those races I quickly look at Monmouth and Pimlico to find some easy pickings.

Make them part of your arsenal and they can be very helpful.

Hi Froggy

Wow Form factors Thats a phrase from my past
Do you use the 3 or all of them from IATRT and How Will Your Horse Run Today

Recency
Up close at the the stretch or second call
Improve or decline
Stretch loss
last race wins
5 furlong work outs
Early horse pluses

In Total Victory he eliminated
the improvement decline factor

Bill,

I never figured out the "improvement or decline" part.

I now use a "Racing Form" to look at while in the book and I mark them up almost to the point of being unreadable.

I have all three books.
"Investing at the Race Track" is a solid piece of work and somebody could make a living from it if they wanted to do the work.

I proved to myself that "Total Victory at the Track" works and does quite well.
But I found making the "PCR" too time consuming and mentally exhausting.

However it's not easy to make a living selecting investments at the track no matter what you do.

Hi tlt

It really is . It really can be misleading
The match up of each race is a once only event
A early horse using too much energy might just find itself in a
lone early walk in the next race
