True - I admit it's a lingering bias that I must correct. It's left over from the earliest days of the NYS breeders program.

That 12 showed up third in my rankings, but I just couldn't go with the race at all. I didn't figure it to be up so early in this field.

True Tim, but the 5th back was in the slop followed by a bad inner run. Personally couldn't go back that far because of that.

Horses simply run: there is far too much hokey overlay to trying to figure out the extraneous. Great epiphany was to just look at a performance as a performance and then find others that are close with NO overlay in depth evaluations. If they DID it, they are evaluated on it as a performance pure and simple.

Thanks Tim. So true. Remember as a kid being told I would have gotten more for my birthday but Mom and Dad couldn't afford much with Christmas so close. However, they more than made up for it the rest of the year

I used the 6th one back. I eliminated the recent turfers, and took the best of the last three dirt races. It got the 12 into my top 3, but I just didn't like the whole field in general so I stayed out.

Now, if I'm reading the sixth correctly, it's between the 1 and the 12 for best early.
