If you care to work the race the way Mr. Bradshaw advocated here is the link to a thread that will help: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2026 Posts # 25 and #37 reflect the exact steps I was taught and also explains Jim's thinking behind his method. Best of luck and hope it helps you

In that case, it looks as though CHERITABLE MAN should win easily.
The 1:34.1 mile last out seems untouchable by this field? Plus he an Miner's Escape are the only E's, and Miner's Escape can't keep up. W2W for Cheritable Man? Any thoughts? |

Belmont..
Hello Justin:
I hope that you are doing well? You know, under ordinary circumstances and in most cases I believe that you could indeed make a clear case for Charitable Man on the engine and taking it from start to finish controlling the pace almost entirely on the front end. However, Mine That Bird has to have one of the most unusual and extraordinary late kicks (running types) that I have ever seen in recent years. He isn't like a true late pace "dead" closer typified by such a horse like Monarchos was when it would just take him a very long time to get worked up until he came rolling. This horse just sits back floating around while allowing everyone else to battle it out up front and then he has that unique and uncanny ability to close "with a quickness" coming home in that last 3/8 to a half or better as if someone had suddenly attached a Rocket to his undercarriage. I can't think of when I have seen a horse close in such a peculiar and spectacular fashion as he has shown in his last two races. I know that the Belmont is rarely won by any horse that is truly considered a late type or true closer. But, can the rest of the field hold him off going that extra 5/16ths of a mile if he is able to run anywhere near what he has produced in his last two out? Watching his works he seems fresh and fit as a fiddle and to be none at all worse for the where. God Bless him. Also, being from Birdstone like Summer Bird, you know that in all likelihood he will probably relish the added distance. I believe that it is going to be a very fascinating race to watch because of many of the intrinsic elements involved. ![]() Good Skill to you and I hope that you crush the race. All the BEST! Vinnie

Very Cool Link jms62... Thanks for posting it. I know that MTB is up against it tradition wise and just through the process of the probable race setup. I can't wait to get the PP's and run this baby through Val4 several different ways to see what Val comes up with.
Thanks again for posting the awesome link. Warm Regards, Vinnie
