I was thinking more along the lines that horse racing and handicapping isn't the right program for him!

I even attached a track model for his use that I made as an Open Office spreadsheet. It already had been filled in for a Belmont meeting, all he would have had to do was follow the format - all the formulas to determine percentages of the five finalists were already there. I offered further assistance yet I never got any inquiries or even a thank you. He was even in another forum seeking to borrow money. That's not gonna help him if he does not have the discipline. I'm convinced that you could tell him that there is a DRF at the corner store reserved just for him that has the winners already identified in it, all he has to do is wager on them. He would ask for someone to go pick it up for him. It just appears that others here and elsewhere have reached a saturation point. That may just be the cause and effect of Patrick having reached his own saturation point. Why? Because he's not focusing, he's overwhelmed - whatever. Can't deal with spreadsheets? Get a looseleaf binder and graph paper. Twenty-five years ago, that would have been what most of us were doing. If it's too much to adjust to the learning curve of the methodology, a spreadsheet program and RDSS, something has to be adjusted. He knows he usually is wasting his money on exotics, but he also admits that he can't resist them despite all the advice to do otherwise. He's told to pass races, avoid odds-on horses, but he does it anyway. One can't make their first start in the Kentucky Derby, there are stepping stones. Patrick has the expectation of winning the roses when he hasn't even broken his maiden. He has had the advice of some of the best trainers in the world, he's had a free lunch tossed to him courtesy of Ted, but he's complaining of not getting his dessert yet he wasn't there when it was handed out. Ted used an old phrase that I'll paraphrase slightly - you can't lead a horse to water but you can't make him think. Last edited by clore1030; 08-29-2010 at 03:27 PM. |

Just to be clear, my words above were not written out of any disrespect for Patrick. In all my dealings with him, in writing, over the phone or in person last weekend, he is always polite, a gentleman and respectful himself towards me and others, offering to help with logistics in Saratoga any way he could.
My words were, rather, written to clarify an observed mis-reporting, and also perhaps out of a frustration and even sadness at seeing his dreams frustrated by ineffective behaviours. I feel strongly, despite whatever advice folks may have for him, that he (like ALL of us here) deserve utmost respect as individuals, even when it appears delivered along side 'tough-love'. Just saying (and not in response to any particular comments so far). Ted

He's admitted to all sorts of life-changing experiences of which I won't go into detail. That kind of personal drain is not the kind of thing that can co-exist with what he is trying to accomplish. I went through a personal crisis a few years ago that left me wifeless, broke and jobless. Even with what I've learned about handicapping from the previous 30 years, it was not the time to attempt it again or think of it as a full time gig as I had to get other things in order, such as how was I going to pay the rent and other expenses such as those of my son who was also abandoned. I had other elements of my life that had to take priority and this may be the case for Patrick. He hopefully will feel better about himself then and then try immersing himself in all the complexities of handicapping. |

Maybe RDSS is not for me, fine , there has been good advice given to me here, on PA and HSH when I was there, here with this last contest winnings , either I again did not hear things right, or there may have been told to me in a very cryptic manner, and of course I did not follow it., what you ask, well this. I got unlimited data for 3 Months, but was overwhelmed and still kept to NY tracks, Belmont , which I did very well with, and Monmouth, which I do fairly well, 40% or so, but supposedly I was to find other tracks to play during this Free 3 months and of course , I neglected playing anything else , as to me no one really told me leave Saartoga alone, do this track instead, or choose rorm these 3-5 tracks as RDSS does well there, no I did not get that from anyone, sorry, I was determined to beat Saratoga before last weekend got here, and I failed , as I just kept to task with Saratoga getting ready for this big weekend when it came, and tried to model , sorry I can not buy EXCELL, AND GOT OPEN OFFICE INSTEAD. SOMEONE CLAIMS TO HAVE SENT ME AN OO MODEL WITH BELMONT IN IT, YET MANY ATTEMPTS ASKING FOR HELP WITH IT GONE UNANSWERED ,PM'S OF THANKS AND REQUEST FOR FUTHER HELP GO UNANSWERED, LOOK, DESPITE WHAT HAS BEEN SAID, EVEN WHEN THESE SAME MODELS ARE DONE AUTOMATICALLY IN OTHER SOFTWARE, I FELT THIS , RDSS, WAS AWESOME AND WOULD BE WHAT I NEEDED, AND TRUE MY WAGERING IS NOT UNDER CONTROL, I ADMIT THAT, NOTHING IS HIDDEN WITH ME , BUT i DO NOT LIE , BEG OR BORROW MONEY EVER, BUT WOULD ASK FOR ONE ON ONE TUTORING, DUE TO MY LEARNING DISABILITIES, THAT APPARENTLY NO ONE USING RDSS HAS, AND THEY MUST THINK i DO NOT EITHER, EVEN WHEN i'VE MENTIONED MY SLOWNESS A FEW TIMES, DESPITE HOW IT MAKES ME LOOK AND MAKES ME FEELS, I WAS HONEST AN ASKED , FORGIVE ME WHEN i WORKED 20 HR DAYS TO SURVIVE AND YET STILL FOUND TIME AND PLEASURE TRYING TO WIN WITH RDSS, AND HAVE FOUND MANY NUGGETTS USING RDSS, JUST LOOK AT THE POSTS, BUT THEY WERE TRACKS i ALWAYS PLAYED CHURCHILL, MONMOUTH, BELMONT/AQUEDUCT AND SANTA ANITA. Ask Richie who I asked for a little one on one help, and others I tried, and even with TED, who did respond and we talked on phone, and 1st time here did a few IM computer sessions thingies, yet for me learning from TED was hard, while his program is great, his teaching method to me was not compatable to me learning much, as he thought maybe I should already know this and that, and I am sorry I don't, like recording internet shortcuts, cause I did not know better. At least at HSH they were tough on me and yet they understood my slowness in learning and were as patient and Dave tried as hard as anyone ever has for me, yet we togehter felt after a little over a year that HSH may be too hard for me, too complex , too many working things to remember and very time consuming to set up and test this and that, and while I enjoyed it tremendously, it was tough to admit defeat, but I did, then rdss came to me, more simplistic, color-coded, 1 track at a time, not country wide , every track at once, but 1 race at a time, and cheaper too, and again so I thought nice people, who now pile on, fine do as you see fit. Sunady to me was a breakfast to work a card, rain or shine, I came with my computer to do a card, even suggested another track and we only ate and then we left, and with no card worked I did not go swimming at the track, why I had no card to cap and no plays to make, we didn't do any that morning we were going to, it was the reason me and Spence came out to Schulyerville that morning was to cap a card, yet I am reprimanded, sort of, for not going Sunday to the track, yet it was pouring rain, and miserable, and on top of it nothing was handicapped , so why go, Let me cool down, being accused of begging money got me madder than hell. patrick |

Oh yeah, suggesting the US government give some Bailout money to help my strugg;ing business, is not a request for money , it is a statement.
PA would not allow me to bum money on his site, you're WAY OUY OF LINE AND STRECHING HERE. [...edited...] This is a political statement, in no way did I expect to recieve any money from the government. I was showing how much it would take and what I could do with a small amount of money to help me survive, possibly in this economy, for which I did eventually succumb to. I think some people follow me to closely and take something posted as a political jab and twist it around are people we need to fear and not trust, so sad... Patrick I need to say no more and poat no more, this has gotten out of hand and is not beneficial to RDSS and continuing it is ridiculous, now if everyone give up on me fine, I'll move on, at least Dave did work with me one on one for over a year trying to get me to learn HSH, I been here a little less than that, as I had to take a forced hiatus, only Ted really tried to work one on one with, and I thanked him for it, but .... Patrick and Charles (clore1030),
I have taken the liberty of editing your recent posts regarding discussions occurring in PaceAdvantage Off Topic area. I feel the point has been made, rebutted, defended, etc and we can now move on. Please, no more discussion on that matter here. Patrick, you are welcomed to continue to attempt finding a mentor, or learning how to use RDSS, or any other software or methodology. Please do consider my suggestion (and others') that mental skills are way more important than any software skills or tools, or any given analysis or betting methodology. That was one of the main thrusts of that little seminar I gave in Saratoga. In whichever direction you head, I wish you good luck and godspeed! yours, Ted
