The Matchup and Sloppy tracks
Hi Guys,
This is the first time I have posted in this part of the forum. For several months now (with a short hiatus) I have been studying the Matchup, going through as many posts of Jim's and Richie's as I can. What I haven't been able to find, unless I'm missing it, is how would The Hat say to handle things if today's track is sloppy or muddy? Oftentimes a horse's PPs won't show any off tracks and how the horse reacted to it. If anyone could shed some light on the subject it would be much appreciated. |

great question
Good skill as a matcher Joefour
I have no idea. I too have no recollection of Hat's feelings about off tracks. I would not be surprised if the answer was "he didn't care " and just worked it, bet it, won or lost it and moved on to another race coming up Bill |

Below is a link to a post by Richie from a few years ago that somewhat addresses the question. Hope this helps.

Sloppy Tracks
Thanks guys. That's extremely interesting. I'm entertaining the idea of maybe testing from time to time when the tracks are a swamp. See how a fast track line might relate to a sloppy track, 'cause normally I avoid them like the PLAGUE.
