Thanks for caring enough to respond. I think this kind of dialogue is how we all learn. If you notice, I advised folks to work on 20 sprints and routes on the dirt to start to look for patterns. I think that races on the turf handicap differently. At least they work differently for me. I am sure there are patterns that we can use on turf. I just tend to not be able to visualize them as well as I do dirt races. They have plagued me for 20 years so I tend to not invest in turf races like I do dirt races, if that makes any sense.

Thanks for a great post. I started looking at the segment screen as you suggested and in conjunction with my track model have won 7 of my last 8 wagers. Like you I also confine my play to races for 3 & up on the dirt. I have fair success on the turf. Thanks once again for your very insightful post.

I understand what you are saying....everyone's brain works different and somehow in the past I started moving more toward turf racing..because the numbers seemed to work better for me...I still do dirt races but a small %..and like I said before, mostly stakes races for me regardless of the surface. The biggest problem I have with turf is the weather moving races off the turf and races where I have horses on the turf for the first time...I just pass em' and wait for the next one....

Not an expert however I find there are no hard set rules. In previous posts I remember the horse Central Banker. This is a stakes grade horse that was off for a long time and came back with six guns ablazin'. I have bet him a few time since with good success.

In your personal data you have found a hole which is great! Actually I will keep this in mind while looking over races (although I find top quality races harder to make money with - just me).

Never say never (however you need to understand what you're looking at).

A very good post kahunab and a great review for me. Thanks! I also want to point out that those of us who use CSR have found what atkinsrr has found, that CSR is atypical in turf races when compared to dirt races.

Kahunab, a very informative post.
I agree totally with you about the CSR numbers on the dirt.
All my testing has been on the dirt and poly track surfaces.

My records on turf races is inconclusive as I have only run less than 10 turf races.
I avoid playing turf races as there are plenty of other races in which to find plays.
