Chuckg, if you look at the first Match book from the Sartin meth. It has almost the same example in there. The 5 lost his last race because he was fighting with another horse and this horse fought for 2calls. This was enough to tire him out. Read some posting by Richie on fighters. In this race this horse had no one to fight with. So, he had lots of energy to win.

This race is a straight-up gift from The Hat via Richie P.! If you have not fully digested Richie's "Mind's Eye" series, you will be doing yourself a HUGE favor by doing so. There is so much written in the Hat Check about the power of the early fighter. Go through those lessons and example races and learn the Mind's Eye process. Once you've got that, races like this will start popping up to you on a regular basis.

The Voodoo lessons could also apply here for those so inclined. Taking the POR for the 5 plus positions from older winning lines would stack up favorably with the rest of the field.

**Chuck, great question. From the pacelines in your screenshot, it is tough to see the 5 going all the way. Remember that the 1,2,5 and 6 were in a tandem last time. Try stacking those lines on top of each other. How does it look now? The 5 was still ahead of the 3 by 1.5 lengths at the stretch call AFTER fighting through the first two calls in a much faster pace than you projected today. The 3 passes the 5 at the wire by 1.75 lengths. Now, in today's race, there is no one to fight the 5 which gives it much more energy for the finish as Emilio points out. I have seen tandems under these conditions reverse by 5 lengths or more. The 3's advantage last time is eliminated today.

For paceline selection, try focusing on: 1) lines where the horse won or ran really well 2) tandems 3) fighting through fast fractions. See if that can help the E / OTE call for you. BTW, you DID make a nice early call at MNR last night.
