Help!

Ted
When I was importing todays cards yesterday 1 or 2 were corrupt. so what I did was delete everything from trackmaster folder.

ok I just ran RDSS auto downloader taking all the cards for today ( I have the unlimited plan). It went quickly through and did NOT import any of them. like it was still recognizing that the cards were still on my machine even though my trkmast folder is completely empty.

Panic.

Can you help? I need my babies man!
Richie

Richie,

RDSS does not download the TM PP files to TRKMAST. It downloads them to \Rdss\Data\Past Performances\2007\AQU, or ...\BM, or ...\GP, etc. On the Download Past Performances window, if you check the 'Also copy files to' box and send copies of the downloaded files to C:\TRKMAST, that's how the files get to the TRKMAST folder (e.g. for use by Val or Spec)

RDSS does not RE-DOWNLOAD the same files twice, and it is looking in the above described track by track folders to see if it has already downloaded the files (and not TRKMAST) and thus whether it should skip downloading them again. Deleting all the files from TRKMAST will not cause RDSS to redownload those files.

Instead, if you think the downloaded files were all corrupt (for whatever reason), you should go into each of the above described track folders and look for the file which you want to delete (because you think it is corrupt), then delete it there. For example, to delete today's file for AQU, go to folder C:\Rdss\Data\Past Performances\TrackMaster\2007\AQU and find AQU0330r.exe. Then delete it. Repeat the process for all the files you want to redownload, then redownload them.

I might suggest a quick test first, by just deleting one such file, then attempting to redownload it and see if it converts properly. Then do the rest.

Richie: IMPORTANT: could I ask you, instead of deleteing those files when you find them - the ones you think are corrupt - please MOVE them in another folder, ZIP several of them and send them to me by email. I have been trying to get samples of cards which turn out to be unconvertable, and this will help me.

I hope this helps you!

Ted

Richie,

Check for those 2 files in your Recycle Bin, then drag them to a TEMP folder somewhere and ZIP them. (I.e don't Restore them or you'll overwrite the new, good files with the old, bad files).

I'm guessing those files, which would not convert, are quite a bit smaller than any normal TM PP file and are not card files at all but rather messages from TrackMaster which RDSS does not yet recognize (for example, unknown server connection problem, etc). That's why I'd like to get my hands on them, so I can update my 'abnormal messages' handling. (God forbid this happens at the last minute and you missed an obvious long-shot which could pay for baby's operation and make you the envy of your friends, etc, etc )

Thanks,

Ted
