RDSS and Windows 2000

I'm the first one I know of running RDSS with Windows 2000. I haven't used it much yet and have crashed it a few times, but they have either been through my own clumsiness or trying things already on the bug list.

So. at this point its still preliminary, but there seems to be no reason that RDSS will not run just fine with Windows 2000 Professional. I am running on an IBM Thinkpad A30 with 512k of memory. I can use a video resolution of 1280 X 1024 and while the display is impressive, readability is definitely a problem with my bad eyes and 15" LCD.

Anybody else out there using Win2k?

Dick

Dick thanks for trying that. But, 1280 x 1024 on a 15" screen - ouch.

You might find 1024 x 768 easier on that size monitor, though you will lose the 3rd (Analysis) panel on Past Performance views.

I am looking at optionally hiding the Sidebar and then adding some kind of Zoom thing to bump up the font size. I know it is a popular idea...

Hiding the Task Pane

I thik having the option to hide the task pane and bring the main window up a little might just do it for me, Ted. When I'm well rested, I can just barely read the screen at 1280X1024. When I get tired or run down a bit, the 1024X768 is a struggle, especially things like trying to decide if there is a decimal in the beaten lengths or not. Its getting slightly better the more I use the program and get familiar with the font, but is still a struggle at times.

By the way, I'm really enjoying having the numbers on the TPRs instead of just the rankings. I've been fiddling with that screen for several hours tonight and its bringing back some of the feel I had for those numbers years ago. They are a great help in eliminations and contender selection.
