Snagit Tutorial - Posting Screenshots
Here is a video tutorial conducted by Buzz on how to use Snagit to make simple screen captures, upload them to Pace and Cap, and use them to add multiple attachments to your posts. He demonstrates how to insert the images exactly where you'd like them in your post, for a pleasing effect:
Just like this ![]() Here is the link to watch the tutorial (WMV format, 15Mb): http://paceandcap.com/videos/SnagitTutorial.wmv This recording was created using GoToMeeting Conferencing, so the recording, as always, requires the GTM Codec to be installed in order to watch it. (You can download that here: https://www.gotomeeting.com/codec ) Either watch live, or download first then watch from your computer. Either way, you have to install the GTM codec first, and use Windows Media Player to watch the video (i.e. not another video viewer program). I'll let Buzz continue (if needed) with any other notes. Thanks Buzz! Ted

How to Post a Race
Using SnagIt To Post Races
SnagIt is a Screen Shot Program and can be purchased for $39.95 from Techsmith. http://www.techsmith.com/purchase/order/snagit.asp I recommend it because it is user friendly, powerful and affordable. Here is a list of keystrokes used to make a screen shot of a horse's past performance and to post it to the BBS. First install SnagIt Open RDSS Open the Original screen to view a horse's PP's Make a Screenshot 1) Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard A 2x4 inch rectangle with instructions will appear on the screen. 2) Move your mouse so that the curser is positioned on the upper left corner perimeter of the area you want to capture. 3) Click and hold down the left mouse button as you drag to select the area you want to capture. 4) Once the area of interest is encircled release the left mouse button to capture. The SnagIt workpad will automatically open with your screenshot in place. If you want to go back and redue your screenshot hit the ESC key on your keyboard and the horses' PP's on the Original screen will reappear. Once you have the screenshot exactly as you want it you will automatically be on the SnagIt workpad. Save the Screenshot 1) From the SnagIt workpad click on the Save As icon on the upper tool bar. Save As window will open. 2) Give the screenshot a name. 3) Set the file ending to GIF. 4) Choose a convenient location. (Desktop works for me) 5) Click on save The Snagit workpad will appear. 6) Close out the workpad. Upload the Screenshot Go to the BBS Go to the RDSS Forum. 1) Click on the New Thread button or the Post Reply button. The BBS Message Editing window will open. 2) Click on the Paper Clip icon The Manage Attachments window will open 3) Click on Browse button. 4) Go to the file location (Desktop) 5) Double Click on the file. The Manage Attachments window will reopen with your file listed To add another file click on Browse again and repeat the previous steps. 6) Once all your files are listed in the window click on the (upper level) upload button next to the Browse button. The Manage Attachments window will remain open and the files will move from the top of the window to the Current Attachments list. Your files have now been uploaded to the BBS. Assemble Text and Screenshot 1) Close the Manage attachments window and the BBS message editing window will appear. 2) Type in your title and vvvmessage and comments. 3) To add your file or files click on the Paper Clip Icon and a drop down menu will appear with a list of your files. 4) Place your blinking cursor on the location in your text where you want your file to appear. 5) Click on the Paper Clip again. 6) Click on the file you want. [ATTACH] tags will appear and be added to the beginning and end of your file. Do not alter these tags intentionally or unintentionally. 7) Add any additional text. 8) Click on the Preview Post button to view your post before submitting it. Please note...sometimes the attachments will appear as big red X's rather than a readable file. It is a quirk in the BBS software. Not to worry. Submit Post 1) Click the Submit button. |

Thanks Buzz. Just a note, although you refer to RDSS above, of course the process you describe is not specifically related to RDSS - you capture the screen from ANY software or image appearing on your monitor, just like others do using the ScreenHunter software.
