Froggy,
The only thing I can think of is that the Flash videos are streamed (you watch earlier portions as you download the later portions), and that due to internet congestion, or too heavy traffic on my server, the video file is not delivered fast enough to keep up with what you're watching, so the whole thing pauses while waiting for more to download. I have encountered this occasionally (with YouTube and various streaming race video sources as well) and consider it just part of streaming. If the video just sits there forever, well that's different. Someone else commented that an earlier video would not start, but when it started for me, then they wrote back saying it had just started for them. The alternative to streaming is to just make them download files (can't watch them until you download them in full). Please do let me know if this video NEVER starts for you - maybe I can add a little lubrication... Any comments welcomed re whether videos should be streaming or downloaded. I can't do both - it takes a long time to render these, then upload them. Ted

Ted
Just my two cents If i were making instructional videos for RDSS, i'd make them so the interested parties could download them and watch at his/her lesuire

Froggy, your not alone, this video chugged along extremely slow and choppy, unlike Ted's usual fine productions. Each segment seemed to last 10 seconds or less. Just let it chug thru while you do something else and then in about 15-20 minutes do a replay and it works as smooth as a babies bottom.

I was viewing one of the RDSS videos on Sunday and everything just froze in time. I think the problem was with Flash on my pc. Turned computer off, got everything going again and was able to view the videos.

Pete,
I tried restarting the computer and re downloading the flash stuff and then restarting again and now I can only get 48 seconds into the video instead of 2 min 11 seconds as before. I have this problem with all of the RDSS videos. I have never been able to see them all the way through. Bill's work OK however. It might be that I only have a run of the mill computer from Costco and this stuff is designed for someone with a billion gigabytes of ram and 12 processors. Things were much easer with dos 5.0. I'm just going to figure this is another thing that I have that doesn't work and needs to go out in the shed with the other useless stuff that I have acquired over the years. Froggy |
