Sustained at Del mar
Another couple of nice SP screen payouts from Delmar yesterday. The #2 was a sprint from route extraction - last line. The #7 was the last sprint line. The crowd overlooked these two entries much more than they should have if you look at the morning lines. EXDC made all the extractions/adjustments and I used the 2 adjust on both.
I did nothing anyone else could not have done except narrowing the contention down a bit more. I also probably should not have bet 3 horses in the 5th race but it worked out ok. Masterful was close to the actual dph but I still did not play the exacta. I need to change that! Last edited by lsosa54; 08-28-2008 at 06:29 AM. |

A perfect example was the 8th race yesterday, a 2 yo Calbred stakes. After scratches, you had 2 early horses left that should dominate the pace and an early that couldn't make the lead. Even with an SP focus, you had to think the closers were up against it here and one of the 2 earlies should win. These were raw 2yo where only one horse had even gone 6f and not too well. In reality, FOUR of these crazy 2 year olds shot for the lead as Warren and Listisimo who showed sustained races decided they were going to go! Luckily, Ten Churros was on the outside of the leaders and got a great trip for the win. Tammy's closed from dead last for the exacta. If you make the call on the bias, EXDC saw it pretty well in the end, didn't it? BTW, no crazy pace lines for these young contestants, just the last line. The Only DMR race I thought worth capping today
A close 2nd on the SP screen and tops on the AOdds APV Main Screen which I always check. Had run all on turf except for one place on the all weather in France or England not shown. Canani is very good in just about any situation in SoCal and he had worked very well over the poly. It seems the turf to poly move appears easier for a trainer to have success with than turf to the old dirt surfaces, esp. if the poly is playing sustained.
BTW, even though the place horse was 4th APV, I had eliminated him in the somewhat mechanical contender process I use with AOdds. May have to re-look at it or just move on. Last edited by lsosa54; 08-28-2008 at 08:56 PM. |
