Entering Projected Pace

Hi,

I tried this weekend to manually input a projected pace in RDSS on races from Hollywood Park from some PAR stats I purchased. Is it possible to put these in manually or do you have to pick one from one of the entries??

Thanks

John

Hi John

welcome

I go with Doc and would not advice using pace of race pars unless you
know for sure how they were made I make my own its very easy
and i'm sure they are accurate
None the less here is how you can add and edit to your liking the projected
pace numbers

Using a random horse But with a cool name here is how you can do it Lets say your pace pars say the secound call is 45
you can either find a 45 secound call or do this

bill, just to be clear, the pace line selected are the calls and time of the
LEAD horse in that race. correct? also then the programs math and logs ADJUSTS the time and BL's for that pace line. correct?
in reallality one COULD estimate each horses time's and enter it into the PACE BAR. how do you think the program would react?
a lot of time.......

Bill,

Thank you very much for the information. I was trying to force the info in the box and it did not work. With your information, I quickly saw the "drop down" and it worked. Thanks

you are welcome

Wow I am happy to help. Louie. What you put in the boxes for the projected calls does nothing more than show you by color how fast or slow the pace of that pace lines por was compared to your choice of a number. The numbers to the left of the past performace line are the pace of race numbers the 44.6 I used in the example means the horse on the lead at the second call triggered the timer when its nose broke the timing beam.
Other than some readouts everything on rdss all readouts are adjusted figures you can use the original lines and either hand enter them into hand entry versions of sartin programs. In 3 call format only or send the data directly from rdss if you want to make any of your own adjustment that's the way to go

Bill,
I am interested in your response to this. So, if you have the time, please feel free to just address the topic generally. You will be answering my question.
I handicapped 6 races on Friday at Hollywood. Picking two horses to win, I won four races. They were hypothetical bets, but successful, none the less. I entered pace figures I purchased from www.speedfigures.com into RDSS based on the distance and level of race. Once I entered the projected pace, I picked the best "recent line" from the pp's that best represented this pace, based on the "coloring" RDSS does. In addition to the projected pace matching, I picked the line that had a favorable outcome (win), or what looked to be the best. If the pace was demonstrated, I would pick a 2nd place finish over a 9th place finish etc. I have been thinking about this. I am clearly overlooking the the way the race "matches up", Correct?. I am not taking in consideration whether I think a lone speed horse is going to win or a closer, based on a duel on the front end. I had some success with these figures this one day. Could you please put into words the pluses and negatives for this approach so I can wrap my brain around it. I work best when I throw my ideas out there and am challenged. Thanks in advance!!!

Respectfully Submitted,

John

As a side note...I live in Denver and flew into LAX last week to watch the races at Hollywood. I stayed on W Century Blvd. The Ramada Inn Limited in the West 4300 block was great and within walking distance of the track. The city bus gave a $1.35 ride there and back to the airport. I stayed for the Friday night racing, the Saturday racing, and the Sunday racing. The weather was great and I was able to meet alot of the guys I see on TVG each day. John Shirreff's also kindly signed an autograph. It was a good time and economical.

Match Up

Hi John

First I think thats s great story of your trip to Hollywood Park
I have been there. And your trip sounds like mine when I went out to visit Doc in June of 2000

I also hung around the TVG crew at Del Mar all summer
I got to know them and got some autographs. That reminds me I have something to give a friend ...

Anyway Your doing fine entering the pace numbers I hope I didn't sound
harsh when I questioned your source for them. As long as you are confident with them its good

I'm not clear what you mean by betting your second pick over your ninth
pick can you explain that ?

As for as the Match Up

The Match Up is built into the program
You can either base your bets on final odds
or look closer at the numbers and do a bit of the match up
on your own

I do my own match up when I use the older hand enter Sartin programs
With RDSS and Val 4 (modern) downloaded and adjusted readouts programs
I bet by the odds and horses that run to my decision model
and horses that improve from BLBL to VDC

either way works The Match Up is built into the program

But almost every body thinks they know better
and wants to do it themselves

Bill,
Thanks for the response. No offense taken reference the speed figures at all. I may be interested in making my own once I get a handle on the concepts, and I think you may have opened a door for me.

When I referred to picking the horse that came in 2nd over the horse that came 9th, I was saying only that if there were multiple "lines" to choose from that demonstrated the projected pace, I would pick a 2nd place finish over a 9th place finish,as an example. I might also pick a 3rd place finish over a 4th place finish. Or, I might pick being beat by only 3 lengths as opposed to 5 lengths. Does that make sense. Simply, if the line demonstrated the projected pace, I hoped the end result was a win or as close to it, then I would choose it.

So, are you trying to tell me that RDSS actually does all that "match up" work? It decides who might duel or close based on the pace I enter? Then the horses in the BL/BL are the the ones RDSS sees as being the contenders. So, it goes without saying that the horses as listed in order in the BL/BL might be closers, lead horses, OTE etc. Could the BL/BL horse listed first be the closer and the next two be the two that dueled it out and succumbed to the pace?

Thanks again for your time.

John
