Guy Wadsworth's Memorial, February 18

Dear Ted
Thank you for sharing your experiences
Your post about Guys tribute was very hard to get through for me
I will always treasure the memories of my phone calls to him
I often am driving down highways thinking about how Guy used to call me on my cell phone It would be around mid morning my time So I knew he had probably just woken up and we would talk for hours about stuff. He had good days and not so good ones When I drive them again I think about those calls

I should have been a better friend. I closed and made your post a sticky It will be on top

Thank you
Bill

Guy Wadsworth

As one of Guy's many friends, I just want to say how much richer and happier he made our lives. In this world of handicapping and horses, filled with so many memorable characters, Guy was one of the special ones. He always gave more than he took. His work and passion will go on, by Guy's choice, in the good hands of Ted Craven. Guy's memorial service was touching and is captured wonderfully on this site by Ted. Where Guy now rests, he will forever see every winner cross the wire at Santa Anita... Godspeed, Guy...

a good character

the sport needs Damon Runyonesque characters as this fellow was. Having just buried my father last week, I realize how important it is for some people to have the last "run" a dignified one.

I take it he was buried somewhere at the course? great. One of my uncles had his ashes released from a sulky as it roared down the lane at his favorite harness track. What better a place?

Tim,

We were able to leave a small quantity of Guy's ashes on the track, at the finish line at Santa Anita.

You can read a bit more about it near the end of my post on the Memorial service and trip to the track.

Ted

Music

Folks,

A late addition to the thread on Guy's Memorial: a link to the song which Marty Dahl wrote and performed (to Guy's poem).
